ChargeGuardian does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal or financial data. Period.

How the Extension Works

ChargeGuardian processes checkout page content entirely within your browser. Here is exactly what happens:

• The extension reads text and elements already visible on checkout web pages in your browser
• It detects payment method labels (e.g., "Visa •••• 4242") displayed on the page
• It shows a confirmation dialog before you complete a payment
• Your preferences (enabled/disabled, trusted merchants) are stored locally in your browser's storage

No data ever leaves your browser. No external servers are contacted. No data is transmitted anywhere.

What We Do NOT Do

• ❌ Does NOT collect, store, or transmit credit card numbers
• ❌ Does NOT collect, store, or transmit bank account numbers
• ❌ Does NOT collect, store, or transmit passwords or login credentials
• ❌ Does NOT use cookies or any form of tracking
• ❌ Does NOT use analytics (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
• ❌ Does NOT communicate with any external servers
• ❌ Does NOT share any data with third parties
• ❌ Does NOT sell any data (because we don't collect any)

Permissions Explained

Storage: Used to save your on/off preference and trusted merchant list locally in your browser.

Content script on all URLs: Required because checkout pages exist on every shopping website. The extension only activates when payment buttons and checkout forms are detected — it does nothing on non-checkout pages.

No Remotely Hosted Code

ChargeGuardian does not load or execute any remotely hosted JavaScript. All code runs locally from the extension package. No eval(), no external script tags, no dynamic code execution.

Third-Party Services

ChargeGuardian does not integrate with, send data to, or rely on any third-party services, APIs, or external servers. The extension is entirely self-contained.

Your Rights

Because we don't collect any data, there is no data to access, delete, export, or modify. Your data stays in your browser, under your control, at all times.
